The Ride for Karen is an annual cycling event that raises money for people living with cancer and their caregivers, dedicated to the legacy of the late Karen Tobias, who wished to increase cancer patients’ quality of life. Flash is not only a long-time supporter, printing all promotional materials for the ride, but vice-president David Gallant is also a participant: This year, he rode the Metric Century, a 100-kilometre course north of Toronto. In the eight years since the first Ride for Karen, the event has raised nearly $1.2 million, which has been used to send children with cancer to camp, to supply support centres with resources, and to build and furnish cancer-care facilities.
